Senior Communication Advisor

 Location: Utrecht, Netherlands 

We are seeking an experienced Senior Communication Manager to lead communication activities for a major road infrastructure renewal project. This role is ideal for a strategic communications professional with extensive experience supporting complex civil engineering projects and working within large public sector environments.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and oversee the long-term communication strategy for a large-scale infrastructure project.

Create, maintain, and execute comprehensive communication plans.

Coordinate newsletters, articles, interviews, and other communication materials.

Manage digital communications, including intranet, websites, and social media channels.

Monitor media coverage, prepare media responses, and support press communications.

Develop innovative communication campaigns and materials.

Coordinate and manage external communication agencies and service providers.

Organize public information sessions, stakeholder meetings, site visits, and events.

Monitor communication effectiveness and continuously improve communication strategies.

Lead and coordinate a team of communication advisors.

Work closely with contractors, municipalities, regional authorities, and other public stakeholders to ensure consistent project communication.

Required Experience

Demonstrated experience on road construction or major transportation infrastructure projects with similar responsibilities, gained within the last five years.

Minimum 3 years of experience delivering communication support for civil infrastructure projects.

Minimum 5 years of experience providing strategic communication advice within a large public sector organization.

Strong experience managing communication activities throughout complex, multidisciplinary projects.

Preferred Experience

Experience developing and implementing communication strategies and communication plans for major government infrastructure programmes.

Experience working with communication framework agreements and external communication agencies.

Experience leading and mentoring communication advisors or communication teams.

Familiarity with large-scale transportation, road, or water infrastructure environments.
