Senior Network Engineer (Extreme Networks) | Brussels, Belgium | Long-Term Contract

About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to join a major infrastructure and security transformation program based in Brussels. The successful candidate will play a key role in implementing network segregation initiatives, maintaining LAN infrastructure, and enhancing network security and resilience across both IT and Operational Technology (OT) environments.

This is a long-term engagement offering the opportunity to work on critical infrastructure projects, industrial networks, disaster recovery, and cybersecurity initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and upgrade the Extreme Networks infrastructure
• Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Extreme switches and wireless environments
• Monitor and address LAN-related security vulnerabilities (CVEs)
• Provide 2nd-line network support to internal users
• Participate in Disaster Recovery (DRP) projects, including design and implementation of Extreme hardware solutions
• Perform data center maintenance activities, including rack installations and hardware management
• Configure and maintain SolarWinds monitoring solutions, including dashboards, alerting, testing, and implementation
• Configure and support Nozomi solutions for OT environments and industrial network monitoring
• Manage and optimize Extreme XIQ platform deployments
• Improve OT network resilience and segmentation
• Fine-tune and optimize existing Lynx8 implementations
• Produce and maintain technical documentation, network designs, change records, and operational procedures
• Ensure compliance with GDPR, ISO 27001, and NIS2 security standards

Required Skills & Experience

Networking

• Extensive experience with Extreme Networks technologies
• Strong knowledge of Extreme OS, Extreme NAC, and Extreme XIQ
• Advanced Cisco Routing & Switching experience
• Expert understanding of routing protocols
• Strong experience with LACP, MLAG, Mirror Ports, and network redundancy

Security & Infrastructure

• Expertise in Network Segmentation and Security
• Experience with Palo Alto Firewalls (Panorama and PAN-OS)
• Knowledge of cybersecurity requirements for critical or essential service operators
• Familiarity with ISO 27001 and security governance frameworks

Monitoring & Tools

• SolarWinds IPAM and monitoring solutions
• Nozomi for Operational Technology (OT) networking
• Experience with Lynx8 networking environments

Network Services

• DNS
• DHCP

Documentation

• Strong technical documentation and reporting skills

Preferred Experience

• Participation in large-scale network segregation projects
• Experience managing industrial networks and SCADA environments
• Experience working within critical infrastructure, utilities, manufacturing, or industrial environments
• Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity projects

Language Requirements

• French – Professional Proficiency
• Dutch – Professional Proficiency
• English – Professional Proficiency

Location & Working Model

Brussels, Belgium

• Minimum 3 days per week onsite in Brussels
• Occasional travel to production sites across Wallonia
• Full-time assignment (40 hours per week)
