Solution Architect (Project & Technical Lead)
Overview
This role is responsible for leading and coordinating complex technical and infrastructure projects within a highly regulated environment focused on nuclear safety, radioactive waste processing, and decommissioning of nuclear installations. The position ensures that projects are delivered efficiently, safely, and in compliance with strict regulatory and organisational requirements.
The Solution Architect acts as a key technical and project leader, ensuring alignment between business needs, technical solutions, regulatory constraints, and operational execution.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Delivery
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee end-to-end project execution within scope, time, budget, and regulatory constraints
- Develop detailed project plans, technical studies, analyses, and solution concepts
- Lead implementation, deployment, and commissioning of systems, infrastructure, or installations
- Monitor project progress and ensure delivery quality and efficiency
- Coordinate internal and external project teams, defining required competencies and roles
Technical Architecture & Concept Development
- Define and evaluate technical concepts and solution architectures
- Collaborate with domain experts to select and validate appropriate technologies
- Ensure technical feasibility, safety compliance, and cost-effectiveness of solutions
- Integrate inputs from multiple stakeholders into coherent and robust designs
- Ensure new technologies are properly integrated and adopted within the organisation
Stakeholder & Governance Management
- Act as primary point of contact for stakeholders and project governance bodies
- Communicate project progress, risks, financial status, and outcomes
- Identify and manage risks, issues, and escalations throughout project lifecycle
- Align with PMO and governance structures to ensure reporting and compliance
Contract & Regulatory Management
- Act as lead representative in public procurement and tendering processes
- Ensure compliance with public procurement legislation and contractual obligations
- Follow up on suppliers and contractors against agreed terms and performance
- Maintain complete and accurate project documentation and records
Change & Adoption Management
- Embed change management practices into project delivery
- Communicate changes clearly to stakeholders and end users
- Ensure adoption and organisational acceptance of delivered solutions
- Support development of procedures, training, and operational documentation
Profile / Soft Skills
- Strong experience in project management and technical solution design
- Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams in complex environments
- Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities
- Able to balance technical, financial, and operational constraints
- Strong leadership, ownership, and decision-making capabilities
- Experience in regulated or safety-critical environments is a strong advantage
- Structured, detail-oriented, and documentation-driven mindset

- Dutch: Native or bilingual proficiency
